Fort Collins & northern Colorado

Heating and cooling, explained line by line.

Hawthorne repairs, maintains and replaces furnaces, air conditioners and heat pumps for Fort Collins homes, and rooftop units and split systems for local businesses. We start with what your equipment says about itself.

  • Homes — Old Town to the south end
  • Businesses — offices, shops, restaurants
Before we arrive

Your equipment has a label. It says a lot.

Every furnace, air conditioner, heat pump and rooftop unit carries a data plate: size, age, electrical needs, refrigerant. Read us the first two lines when you call and the technician arrives already knowing the unit.

Questions

Asked on the phone every week.

How old is my furnace or air conditioner?

The data plate usually tells you. Most manufacturers encode the date of manufacture in the serial number, often as a year and a week, but each brand uses its own code. Read us the model and serial numbers and we can usually tell you.

What size is my air conditioner?

Many manufacturers put the nominal size in the model number as thousands of BTU per hour: 024 is about 2 tons, 036 about 3 and 048 about 4. Not every brand does it the same way, so we confirm before quoting anything.

Why do you ask for the model and serial number when I call?

They tell us the size, age, refrigerant and electrical details of the unit before we arrive, so the technician is more likely to bring the right parts and give you a straight answer on the first visit.

Do you work on businesses as well as homes?

Yes, both equally. Houses across Fort Collins and Loveland, and offices, shops, restaurants and small commercial buildings with rooftop units and split systems.

Does Hawthorne do finishing or painting work?

No. “Finishing Partners” is part of the name, not the trade. Hawthorne is a heating, ventilation and air conditioning contractor only.

Have the plate handy?
